Arch Top Guitar Options

I am currently offering arch top guitars with a 17" lower bout with European maple backs and sides and European spruce top and maple neck. The scale length is 25 inches with are 21 frets. I use a two way truss rod. The design of my bridge is more like a violin bridge, for acoustic reasons, the bridge has no metal parts that restrict the vibrations, but it does have a bone saddle for adjusting the string height.

Full body

A historic style that offers a greater bass response due to the larger air chamber and larger sound board.

Venetian Cutaway

A classic look, named after the city of water. This round cutaway resembles a wave.

Florentine Cutaway

Not as popular today as in the 1960's, the Florentine cutaway has a sharp point. Both cutaways offer better access up to the 19th fret.

Electronics

A pickup can be added to any acoustic arch top guitar. It is suspended from the underside of the pick guard and does not make contact with the soundboard, the wire passes under the pick guard to a thumb wheel volume control at the edge of the pick guard, the wire then passes into the F hole to a jack at the end pin. I use Kent Armstrong pickups. They sound amazing and the are known for their use on Jazz style guitars.

Fittings

The bridge and the tail piece are crucial to the sound of the instrument, for that reason, I offer rosewood for its wonderful acoustic properties or if you prefer I also have a gold plated tailpiece option. In the interest of keeping the look of the instrument more unified, I like to use the same wood for the fingerboard, the pick guard, the binding, and the head cap veneer. Any rosewood can be used.

Bracing

Parallell bracing gives a sound that is more traditional. It has strong projection and a focused midrange tone.X bracing is nothing new to archtops but it is considered a more modern sound. It tends to sacrifice some of the projection for a gain of lower frequencys. Basicaly it is warmer and more full sounding.

Back options

An arched back is beautiful and traditional.Flat backs have been used on archtop guitars for decades. This option can give the sound greater warmth and it can reduce the cost.

Other aesthetic choices

Fingerboard marking dots, block markers or no markers at all.

F hole binding, fingerboard binding.
