Meridian 5 string Bass

The Meridian five string has a low B string in addition to the E,A,D, and G that four string basses have. It is a five piece laminated neck through construction. The fingerboard has a compound radius from 12-20 inches. It has Hipshot ultra light tuning machines and a Hipshot bridge. The pickups are made by Nordstrand and it has an active tone circuit pre amp made by Aguilar. Battery changing requires no tools. The controls are Volume, Blend, Passive Tone (If your battery goes dead in the middle of a set, don't despair, simply switch to the passive circuitry by pulling this knob and rock on). The active tone controls are Bass, Middle (pull to switch midrange frequency) and Treble. The scale length is 35 inches. It comes with Dunlop Strap locks.

 

What is unique to this bass is that it has a birds-eye maple neck with walnut and cherry laminate, and a birds eye maple fingerboard. The body wings are alder with a figured walnut top. The body has a contour where your arm would rest making this bass more comfortable. This bass has a carbon re enforced neck and red LED and fiber optic lighted side dots. The pickups are made by Nordstrand but on this bass we chose the dual coils. With an added feature on this bass there is a series/parallel option for each pickup giving a humbucker sound or a fat single coils sound. This with the switch able mid frequency and the blend pot and a 9 volt active circuit by Aguilar, gives an amazing array of sounds. Most of the finish is lacquer but another feature of this bass is the finish on the back of the neck is a hand applied oil finish. This keeps it silky smooth. Finally the custom bass clef inlay makes this a truly unique instrument.

This bass has an Alder body and a laminated neck of flame maple, curly cherry and walnut and is re enforced with carbon fiber rods. The body is capped with flame maple. The ebony fingerboard has a 12 to 20 inch compound radius and has flame maple binding. The body is shaped on the front and back to make it more comfortable. The bridge is the Hipshot A style, this gives an additional adjustment to alter the string spacing. All the hardware is gold plated. The frets are a special gold colored alloy that is harder than standard fret wire so they will last longer. The strings are gold colored made by Aurora. There are custom inlays of gold mother of pearl on the fingerboard. One of the most exciting features is the side marking dots are lighted with a blue LED using fiber optics that run through the neck. They can be easily turned on or off when needed.

The pickups are hand made fat single coils made by Nordstrand and there is an Aguilar 18 volt active pre amp. Battery changing requires no tools. And there is a bypass switch to switch to passive electronics. This will allow the bass to work even if the batteries are dead. The controls are; top row from left as viewed in photo, passive tone/pull to bypass the active electronics, pickup blend, volume/pull to turn on side dot lights, bottom row from left (these are the active tone controls) bass, middle/pull to switch mid frequency, and treble.

This guitar was part of a special exhibit called the Blue Electric Guitar. This exhibit was a tribute to the original Blue Guitar exhibit that Scott Chinery did in 1995. This time it is all electric guitars. It was part of the Newport Guitar Festival in Hollywood Florida in April 2010.

On this bass the pickups are fat single coils made by Nordstrand and it has an 18 volt active tone circuit. The woods are, quilted mahogany and Alder on the body and a maple, bloodwood and mahogany laminated neck.

This five string bass the Neck is made of flame Maple, Wenge and Mahogany. The body wings are Mahogany with a Wenge drop top. The fingerboard and control knobs are Ebony. The body is contoured on the back for comfort. The neck does not have a high polish finish, it has a silky smoothness that keeps it from getting tacky from moisture.

Propane Bass

This bass was a custom order. The request was to make a bass body that looked like a propane tank. The body is made with a maple center block for strength and sustain, basswood is used for the rest of the body because it is light weight, easy to carve and it tends to accentuate lower frequencies. The valve and the shroud are from a propane tank and were modified to work on this guitar. The output jack is on the valve where the propane hose would connect. This has a Moses solid graphite neck with Hipshot ultra light tuning machines and an EMG HZ pickup.
